Baitul Mal Tazkia (BMTZ) visited the STMIK Tazkia campus in Bogor to discuss the development of technology-based community empowerment programs. This meeting was a continuation of the collaboration between the two institutions that has been running for a year.

Synergy Between Social Institution and IT Campus in Bogor

The collaboration between STMIK Tazkia and BMTZ began with the goal of combining the campus’s information technology capabilities with the social programs of the zakat institution. BMTZ, as an organization managing Zakat, Infaq, Shodaqoh, and Waqf, needed a system that could improve transparency and effectiveness of aid distribution to beneficiaries.

STMIK Tazkia, as an IT campus in Bogor that applies project-based learning, made this partnership a real-world project for students. Information Systems students were directly involved in developing the beneficiary monitoring system, while Computer Engineering students contributed to infrastructure development and data security.

Over the past year, this collaboration has produced several empowerment initiatives targeting underprivileged communities in the Bogor and Greater Jakarta area.

Meeting Agenda: Evaluation and System Development

During this visit, both parties discussed several agenda items:

Previous Year Program Evaluation

The team reviewed the systems that had been developed, including:

  • A beneficiary data application that facilitates aid recipient verification
  • A zakat and infaq distribution monitoring dashboard
  • A reporting system that enhances program accountability

New System Development Plans

For the coming year, both parties agreed to develop additional features:

  • Integration with digital payment systems to facilitate donors
  • A mobile application for field officers
  • An empowerment program impact tracking system

Student Involvement in Projects

As part of the project-based curriculum, STMIK Tazkia students will be involved in every phase of development. This provides hands-on experience working with real clients and understanding user needs in the field.

Technology Contributions for Social Impact

STMIK Tazkia is committed to producing IT graduates who are not only technically competent but also socially aware. The partnership with BMTZ serves as a platform for students to:

  • Learn from real projects — Not simulations, but systems actually used by social institutions
  • Understand business processes — Students learn to analyze needs and design appropriate solutions
  • Contribute to society — Student work directly impacts BMTZ program beneficiaries

This approach aligns with STMIK Tazkia’s vision as an IT campus in Bogor that integrates Islamic values with information technology competencies.

Internship and Career Opportunities

This collaboration also opens internship opportunities for students who want to deepen their knowledge of information systems development in the social sector. BMTZ, as part of the Tazkia Group ecosystem, provides internship placements that allow students to apply their campus knowledge.

For graduates interested in careers in the non-profit or social sector, the experience of working on projects with BMTZ adds significant value.
