Project Background

The elderly health program is one of the priority programs at primary health centers (Puskesmas) to maintain the quality of life for senior citizens. Puskesmas Leuwisadeng, as a first-level health facility in Bogor Regency, had previously relied on manual record-keeping and conventional media for managing data and disseminating information about elderly health services.

Recognizing the need for digitalization, STMIK Tazkia initiated the development of the Melesat (Towards Healthy Elderly) website through its community service program. The website is expected to serve as a digital platform that makes it easier for health workers to monitor and educate elderly citizens in the Puskesmas Leuwisadeng service area.

Website Development by Student

The Melesat website was developed by Nayla Elrazqya Putri, a Computer Engineering student at STMIK Tazkia, under the direct supervision of Hairul Umam, S.Si., M.Si. The development process included several stages:

Requirements Analysis

The student conducted surveys and interviews with Puskesmas Leuwisadeng health workers to understand the needs for digitizing elderly health services. The analysis results formed the basis for designing a website tailored to the needs of field users.

Design and Development

Based on the analysis, the student designed and built the website with features supporting the elderly health program:

  • Role-based login system — separate access for administrators, health workers, and general users
  • Elderly data management — digital recording and monitoring of elderly health data
  • Health service information — education and information about health programs for senior citizens
  • Monitoring dashboard — data visualization to facilitate decision-making by health workers

Testing and Handover

Before handover, the website underwent testing to ensure proper functionality. The student also provided training to Puskesmas Leuwisadeng staff on how to manage and update data through the website.

Appreciation from Puskesmas Leuwisadeng

The Head of Puskesmas Leuwisadeng, dr. Farida Indriawati, together with Maya Muya Sarotu Rizqi, A.Md. Keb (Puskesmas Midwife), presented a Certificate of Appreciation to Nayla Elrazqya Putri for her contribution and dedication in the successful development of the Melesat website.

This certificate demonstrates that the work of STMIK Tazkia students is not only academically valuable but also creates a real impact on partner institutions and the broader community.

Role of the Supervising Lecturer

Hairul Umam, S.Si., M.Si. played a crucial role in guiding the student throughout the development process. He ensured that the project not only met technical standards but also provided real benefits to the community. Supervision included:

  • Software development methodology guidance
  • Code quality and interface design review
  • Coordination with Puskesmas Leuwisadeng officials
  • Product-user needs alignment evaluation

Benefits for Students and the Community

For Students

This project provided hands-on experience for the student in:

  • Working on a real project — not a simulation, but a product actually used by the health center
  • Interacting with clients — learning to understand health workers’ needs and communicate professionally
  • Applying academic knowledge — applying programming, UI/UX design, and project management skills
  • Building a portfolio — a tangible work product to showcase to potential employers

For the Community

The Melesat website provides direct benefits to Puskesmas Leuwisadeng:

  • Digitalized elderly services — elderly health data is digitally recorded and easily accessible
  • Staff work efficiency — elderly health monitoring becomes faster and more structured
  • Improved service quality — data-driven decision-making for elderly health programs
  • Wider information access — the community can access elderly health information digitally
